The Centre has established the Shanghai-Hongkong International Maritime Research & Development and Communication Centre (SHK-IMRDCC) with IMC Hong Kong International Shipping and Transport Logistics Foundation Ltd. and Shanghai International Shipping Institute (affiliate of the Shanghai Maritime University) since March 2012. It is a joint research effort between the industry and academic institutes. Global Shipping Think Tank Alliance

Since December 2016, the Centre has joined the Global Shipping Think Tank Alliance.  The Alliance was founded to gather famous shipping think tanks in different regions of the world, set up a platform for exchange and cooperation, guide the sound development of the global shipping industry and promote solid interactions between shipping think tanks and international organizations and governments of different countries, in order to cope with the challenges faced by the shipping industry. It promotes policy communication between countries and relevant international organizations and advances academic exchange and information and resource sharing, in a bid to contribute to the development of the global shipping industry.
