Centre Renaming - PolyU Maritime Library and Research & Development Centre (FJ620)

Please be informed that the PolyU Maritime Library and Research & Development Centre (PMLC) will be renamed to ‘PolyU Maritime Data and Sustainable Development Centre (PMDC)’ staring from 1 Mar 2024.

Big data is revolutionizing the world we live in today, and the maritime industry is no exception. The maritime industry is experiencing a reformation of digitalization and decarbonization. To address these challenges and embrace reformation, we decide to rename the centre as the "PolyU Maritime Data and Sustainable Development Centre” (PMDC). This new name aligns with our centre's objectives while reflecting our focus on data-related matters and addressing sustainability challenges in the maritime sector.

Under the new name, the Centre will continue its functions to serve our students and staffs as well as the maritime community. And the centre will provide solutions that create management tools, regulations, and policies to enhance the efficiency of shipping operations, improve decision-making processes, and foster safer and more environmentally friendly working environments.

PMDC also acts as a platform for government officials, specialists, practitioners, and academics in the maritime industry to share their insights on contemporary issues in maritime education and policy.
