LMS students visiting Modern Terminal - Hong Kong

October 12, 2015, 40 students and staff from the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies visited the Modern Container Terminal. The purpose of the visit is to give students a first-hand look and feel on the container terminal operation in the real world. The operations control manager of the terminal, Mr. Hung Hing Ki, warmly welcomed the students and given a very detailed introduction on the terminal planning, vessel loading and unloading control, as well as the barge transshipment operation. Through this study, the students learnt the complexity of the tasks behind the apparently simple container loading and unloading task in large container ports.
