IMC Industrial Group signs shipbuilding contract with Oshima Shipbuilding and Sumitomo Corporation
[Hong Kong] IMC Industrial Group penned the decision to purchase 4 x 64K DWT Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) shipbuilding contract with Oshima Shipbuilding and Sumitomo Corporation at IMC HK office on 16 January 2014.
Representing IMC, Mr Li Kwok Hung, MD of IMC Shipping Services, signed the shipbuilding contracts that will see Oshima Shipbuilding and Sumitomo Corporation construct and deliver 4 x 64K DWT MPV to IMC between 2016 and 2017. Also present at the event were invited guest Mr Arnold Wu (Co-head of Transportation Sector, BNP Paribas HK), Ms. Angeline Teo (Managing Director Regional Head Asia, Shipping Transportation Finance, ING Bank Singapore) and Ms. Polly Ngai (Director of Transportation Sector, Investment Banking Asia-Pacific, BNP Paribas HK).
Ms Kris Tan and Ms Vorapart Yonghiraphand from IMC’s Maritime Alliance Capital (MAC), Mr Wong Sin Futt from IMC Shipping Services and Mr Kameyama from IMC Japan were also present to witness the historical event of IMC’s foray into newbuildings in Japanese shipyards after 20 years. The four new vessels, two of which possesses heavy lift capabilities, will be the first of her kind to be built, in terms of design. This project also marks the largest MPV ever constructed by Oshima Shipbuilding.
The four new vessels will be employed under Wan Bong Chartering.
